If landscaping isn't a priority in your life, that doesn't mean that you have to have an unkempt yard. There are landscaping techniques that can empower you to get your yard set up and then forget about it. Here are four landscaping tips for those who might be a little lazy when it comes to yardwork.

1. Set Up a Low Water Landscape

If your yard is in need of constant watering, you are going to set yourself up for failure. If you can find plants and grasses that can withstand heat and don't need much watering, your yard will still look great even with less upkeep. Plants such as low-maintenance succulents can basically take care of themselves. If you aren't sure where to start, work with a landscaper to find the best plants for your environment.

2. Yard Additions that Don't Need Maintenance

Your landscaping design doesn't need to be entirely filled with plants. You can break up your yard with mulch paths and adorn your garden with statues and fountains. Think about expanding a deck or adding in a rock garden instead of a planter box.  Low maintenance additions to your yard can add to your decor and bring out your personal tastes.

3. Go Big With Lush Plants

Big bushes and shrubbery take less upkeep but can still make a dramatic statement in your yard. You don't need to have a flower patch or a garden full of smaller temperamental plants. Bring in some sturdy plants that will withstand inclement weather yet still bring a lush look to your yard.

4. Hire on a Landscaper for Upkeep

Hiring on a landscaper doesn't have to be a huge expense or involve an overhaul every visit. If you have set up your yard in a way that is low maintenance overall, having a landscaper come for weekly or monthly maintenance won't be too labor intensive. Hiring on a landscaper is a win-win if you want a great looking yard, but don't have the time or interest to do the work.

If you have a large yard, it will make your happier to have this tended to, much like a clean house. If you can enjoy your space rather than worrying about ongoing maintenance, coming home and being in your yard will be more peaceful. Make sure to pick a few upgrades that will make your yard easier to care for and bring in a landscaping contractor (such as Sound Landscape Professionals) when needed to keep your yard looking its best.
